St Peter's Catholic School was opened by the Diocese of Shrewsbury in September 1965, to provide a Catholic education for the rapidly growing population of Catholic Children at that time living in and moving into Hazel Grove. Previously, the nearest Catholic school had been Our Lady's, Edgeley, which is near to the centre of Stockport.
The School quickly established itself and expanded rapidly to accommodate over 200 and later over 300 children. In 2005 we celebrated the school's 40th anniversary. The guests included many former pupils, parents, governors and teachers. Now we are a single form entry school, with year groups from Reception to Year 6 and have 205 children on roll.
This beautiful mosaic can be seen on the school's main corridor.
We have lovely children and committed families, many of whom have had several children in school, a good number of whose parents also came to our school.
Parents are very supportive of the school. They are full of praise for the caring and supportive nature of the school, for the high quality of teaching and learning and for the high standards of behaviour and positive attitudes...
Pupils feel very involved in the school and enjoy the education it provides. Pupils feel that their views are valued and that teachers do all that they can to help and support their personal development.
