Kingswood March 2018

Day 1

We arrived at Kingswood safe and sound, full of enthusiasm and excitement.  After a tour of the grounds and a quick chance to unpack and make our beds, we were straight out to our first activity: low ropes.  We worked as teams to navigate our way across a range of low rope obstacles.  Following that, it was dinner time and then onto our first evening entertainment session: murder mystery.  It has been a very exciting first day of our trip and we can't wait for the week ahead.

Day 2

Our first full day - what a great day it's been!  We woke at 7:15am and got ourselves ready for an action packed day ahead.  Following breakfast, we went to our first three activities of the day: the leap of faith, caving and the 3G swing.  All 29 children took part in all three activities - some children couldn't wait to get stuck into them and others really pushed through their initial fears and uncertainties, showing great resilience.  After lunch, it was time for our next three activities: fencing, orienteering and archery.  They were great fun and we all learnt some fantastic new skills.  Dinner followed by a 'scrapheap challenge' evening entertainment, rounded off our first full day.  We'll sleep well tonight (hopefully)!

Day 3

It's been another action packed day here at Kingswood.  After a good nights sleep, our first three activities of the day were bouldering, buggy building and lazer zone.  They were all great fun, with lazer zone in the forest being a particular highlight!  After lunch, we took part in our next three activities: climbing tower, abseiling and nightline.  Mrs. Finan came and met us for the climbing and abseiling. Again, all of the children gave their best to each activity, showing great effort, enthusiasm and resilience.  It has also been lovely to watch all of the children really supporting and cheering each other on. The evening entertainment tonight was the disco, which gave the children the chance to get their dancing shoes on and throw some shapes.  After the disco, we came back to our lodgings and had a dorm party before bed.  It's been another brilliant day at Kingswood!

Day 4

We woke up to find it had snowed quite heavily during the night, which gave us chance to build another snowman!  Can't believe it's already our last full day at Kingswood - time flies when you're having fun!  As usual we headed down to breakfast, which set us up for the first three activities of the day: frisbee golf, jungle vines and shelter building (bushcraft).  The children particularly enjoyed the bushcraft activity, using the natural elements around them in the forest to build a shelter.  Following lunch we had our second set of activities: Jacob's ladder, team tech and obstacle challenge.  As always, we had a great time with lots of laughs and the children continuing to shine.  Many of the instructors here have commented on what a lovely group the children are.  The evening entertainment was the Kingswood campfire, where everyone enjoyed a few jokes, a good old sing song and most importantly, a toasted marshmellow!  To finish the day, we celebrated Mrs. Kok-Shun's birthday with a slab of birthday cake 🎂 Last night tonight and we will see you all tomorrow!

Day 5

Our last day started with a bang - packing, cleaning our rooms and stripping our beds for the laundry. What a laugh that was! Following breakfast it was time for our last two activities of the week: aeroball and the much anticipated giant zip wire. The giant zip wire lived upto the hype as the children finished the week off on a high!

The children have been an absolute delight all week. It has been a pleasure to take them away, spend time with them and watch them engage in all activities with enthusiasm and excitement. They mixed so well and were exceptionally supportive of each other throughout the week. They really are a wonderful group of children.

Many thanks also to Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Kok-Shun and Mrs. Heath for all of their support and hard work in making it such a successful week.
