Welcome to the Reception Class Page!

Week Beginning 11th July

On Bastille Day Thursday July 14th we were taught a French rhyme ‘Deux petits oiseaux ‘ by a group of Year 4 pupils and sang in the Good Work Assembly on Friday. We also learnt about the French artist Henri Matisse and produced our own own collage 'A Snail'. In our outside area we worked together like Tim the Team worker to make something to travel to France in.

Week beginning 4th July - This week we have been playing lots of doubling games with numbers.

Week beginning 27th June - On Thursday it was the Infants Sports day, the children behaved brilliantly and participated like Tim the Team Worker and Percy the Participator in a fantastic way.

Week beginning 27th June - This week we have been working in a team to design and make something that can float on the sea.

Week beginning 13th June - This week we have been making our Father's Day cards.

Week beginning 23rd May - BEWARE The Aliens are coming to St Peter's!

This week we have been designing and making Alien Spaceships and the visiting Aliens.

Also we have been experimenting with bubbles and finding out what objects can / cannot roll down different slope heights as part of our Science day.

Week beginning 16th May - This week we went to Stockport Town Hall and sang lots of Nursery Rhymes with nine other schools. The children sang beautifully and their behaviour was fantastic.

Well done!

Week beginning 9th May - This week we have been looking at the height of our bean plants and then planted them outside in our garden area.

Week beginning 2nd May - This week we have been working like Tim the Team worker to design and make our own space rockets.

Week beginning 25th April - This week we have been using magnifying glasses to look at our new visitors to our class (caterpillars and stick insect eggs).

Week beginning the 11th April - We celebrated St George's day.

Week Beginning the 4th April - PE Lesson with Mr Emsley.

Week beginning 21st March - This week we have been learning a lot about Holy Week. We have been making our own Easter nests, yummy!

Week beginning 14th March - This week we have making our own crosses.

Week beginning 7th March - We have been using our senses to look, touch and listen to the baby chicks.

Week Beginning 29th February -  We have had a fun week this week with our 'Silly Hats' on Tuesday and dressing up as a book character from one of Julia Donaldson books on Thursday.

Week beginning the 22nd February -  Oh dear we have had a lot problems with our bikes this week so we have had to take them to St Peter's bike shop to be fixed by the bike mechanic. Also we have had a few road works to avoid when cycling.

Week beginning 8th February - What a busy week we have had! The children enjoyed making pancakes on Tuesday. On Thursday we learnt about a range of 1960s school activities such as hop scotch, parachute games, space hoppers, the ring game 'In and out of the dusty blue bells' as well as clapping rhymes e.g. 'pat a cake...'. Our week finished off with a fantastic Chinese meal.

Week Beginning the 1st February - Due to issues with the photocopier the children were unable to bring home their homework sheet. Next week we are celebrating the Chinese New Year. Please can the children find out some information about the Chinese New Year. For example the Chinese believe that people born in a particular year take on the characteristics of the animal associated with the Chinese Zodiac. What animal are they?

Week beginning the 25th January - This week in Reception we have been  designing and making 2D shaped dinosaurs. We have also been learning about 'thinking bubbles' and have written a sentence in a thinking bubble to go with our dinosaurs e.g I am big, I have a long neck.

Week Beginning 18th January - This week we have been doing lots of maths activities.

Week beginning 11th January - This week we have been like Tim the team worker painting our dinosaur scenery in our role play area.

In Reception this week we have working like Tim the Team Worker, Thelma The Thinker and Sandy the Self Manager. We have been designing and making time machines to take us back in time to when the dinosaurs were alive, BEWARE!

18th December 2015 - This week Reception have enjoyed meeting and speaking to a very special visitor on party day. Great fun was had.

11th December 2015 - Reception have been participating in the Infants Christmas Play ‘Stargazing’. They have dressed up as party goers, angels, stars, camels, a donkey and shepherds. Well done to all the children they were fantastic!

4th December 2015 -  Reception Class celebrating Scottish day.

27th November 2015 - In Reception this week we have been making counting books using Numicon.

20th November 2015 - In Reception this week we have been painting our favourite toy, labelling it and deciding how much it is going to cost in our Toy Shop.

 

13th November 2015 - In Reception this week we have been designing, mixing and icing 'firework' biscuits. Yummy!

6th November 2015 - This week Reception have been looking at 2D shapes and making a rocket for our firework display.

23rd October 2015 - This week Reception have been printing with Autumn leaves.

16th October 2015 - This week in Reception we have been making our own patterns.

 

9th October 2015 - The children have been making Mr Gumpy's car.
