Friday 29th June 2018

This week the children have completed some excellent observational drawings of flowers. 

Thursday 10th May 2018 

The children had great fun visiting Stoller Hall for a 'Muscial Menagerie' today! Their behaviour was excellent and they even enjoyed a little singsong on the coach back to school. smiley 

Friday 27th April 2018 

This week Year 2 went on a poetry walk in the playground using their 5 senses. The following day they wrote some amazing pieces of poetry using the ideas they  had collected on the walk! Great work Year 2! 

Friday 23rd March 2018 

This week the children have completed their own J.M.W Turner inspired seascapes. They have used a number of art techniques in order to create the wave-like collage and stormy skies. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Friday 2nd March 2018

This week the children made beachscapes in Science. They used water at a range of different temperatures and created high winds and lows winds  using various apparatus to see the effect weather has on waves in the ocean.

This week in RE the children have been creating 'Good News' posters on the iPad using the pic collage app. 

Thursday 15th Febraury 2018

Over the last few weeks the children in Year 2 have been bringing in coins to help to fundraise for our 'Hearts of Chains' initiative. We were so impressed with how much they raised! We used the coins to make a heart pattern which linked with both Valentine's Day and the fact that we were fundraising for a defibrillator. 

Monday 29th January 2018

Today in PE we have been practising different stretches and balances. We finished our gymnastic lesson with a guided relaxation and mindfulness CD called 'Peace Out'. 

Friday 19th January 2018

This week the children began their new Computing topic - We are Photographers! They used Google Expeditions on the iPads to explore the life of American photographer Alice Austen! The children were very focused and enthusiastic, super work Year 2! 😊

Friday 12th January 2018 

This week this children have started their new English topic - Fantasy Stories. 

The children read a variety of dragon themed stories and made lots of predictions about what might happen next. Following this, they desiged their own dragons and described them using adjectives and similes.

This week the children had a special visitor! The children were very happy to see him!

This week the children have been working hard to create stained glass windows of the nativity scene. Their creative skills have impressed me!

This week the children have been practising their hockey skills in PE.

This week the children have a played a variety of instruments to the tune of 'London's Burning'. Following this the children composed their own round about school.

Today in Science the children looked for things that are alive, dead and have never been alive.  

 

Friday 13th October 2017

This week we have been reading the book Meerkat Mail, the children really enjoyed reading each of Sunny's postcards. Sunny was kind enough to send a postcard to Year 2 which meant we had to reply of course using our best handwriting!

This week we are celebrating the success of our classmates! Well Done!

Friday 22nd September 2017

This week the children have been solving lots of maths problems. They have also played lots of maths games to improve their understanding of number. 

Friday 15th September 2017 

Today the children have been finding out more about the Great Fire of London. We watched a short video that took us back to 1666 and introduced us to Samuel Pepys. Following this, the children learnt the song - London's burning.

This week the children have been practising place value. They have used the dienes to show the value of each digit in a 2-digit number.
