Friday 19th April

Some great work this week including handball and our mini greenhouses which are really starting to take shape!

Some tennis snaps, and real concentration when writing thank you letters to St John's.

Friday 15th March

Brilliant photos of our Lenten games and visit to St John’s as part of our Linking Project where we also played our Lenten games!

Friday 8th March

This week we celebrated World Book Day. What fabulous costumes everyone had!

Friday 23rd February

Some samples of the work that earned two children their certificates this week. Some consistent handwriting and presentation in writing and some excellent maths.

Friday 2nd February

Some beautiful singing and percussion performing this week. The children showed their musical talents to great effect!

Friday 26th January

This week we started our new music topic. We listened to I’ve been to Harlem then experimented with pitch and tempo before adding actions to a paired performance.

Friday 19th January

Experimenting with clay and making and testing paper aeroplanes, we’re just two of the activities this week. What a busy week!

Friday 12th January

Sketch, print and paint has been the theme in Year 3 this week. Some excellent art skills on show.

Friday 5th January

Happy new year! A steady start to the term, but already some excellent work, particularly in PE, where we created gymnastic sequences in pairs, and art, where we completed some detailed observational sketches.

Friday 15th and 22nd December

A wonderful final two weeks of the term, finishing topics, having a party and rehearsing carols, culminated in a magnificent carol service. We also received some lovely french-themed Christmas cards from our linking school, St John’s!

Friday 8th December

The children have been working hard and sharing thoughts of hope during the first week of Advent. They have also ben practising mirror balances and creating programs in Scratch.

Friday 1st December

Another busy week in Year 3. We have completed our Geography topic by labelling world maps and explaining where some of our food comes from.

Friday 24th November

Exciting gymnastics in Year 3 this week - we got the big apparatus out! We also did some drama relating to our class book. The children created a conscience alley for 'Tom' to consider his thoughts and feelings.

Friday 17th November

The children have excelled this week when learning about many different subjects. We have been: learning about Judaism, learning about gender stereotyping for anti-bullying week, marking national maths week and we even squeezed in a virtual call with our linking school, St John's!

Friday 10th November

Another busy week in Year 3. The photos below show how we've been practising spelling words with an 'igh' sound in them and getting creative in religion by making prayer stands.

Friday 3rd November

An excellent first week back following the half term break. We've increased our active minutes this week with some super yoga and our first gymnastics session where we focused on jumps and turns.

Friday 20th October

We finished the half term with some more excellent DT work. The children practised different fonts for their moving storybooks before wandering round our ‘gallery’ to look at each other’s ideas.

Friday 13th October

The children were adding and subtracting 1s, 10s and 100s this week. They also learned how to make concertina joints and door flaps for pop-up stories.

Friday 6th October

This week we had our class liturgy and interviewed Father Peter, we also started our new DT topic. The children looked at a range of interactive books all with different moving parts. There were flaps, pull and push levers, pop-ups and rotating parts.

Tag rugby, acting out phone calls between characters and more!

 

Friday 22nd September

Flexible partitioning this week in maths. See if you can work out what is happening in the photos of the maths apparatus. Also, food pyramids in science.

Friday 15th September

What a great start to life in Year 3! The children have been working hard in all areas of the curriculum. Highlights below include, a fact hunt about the Catholic Church, tag-rugby skills and freeze frame drama based on the story of The Lost Son.
