Year 6

Welcome to the Year 6 Class Page!

23rd June - This week, Mrs Mercer has been teaching Year 6 all about 'Little Red Riding Hood' in French. These lessons will help prepare children for their languages lessons in Year 7.

17th June - This week Year 6 have been learning about the function of the blood within the human body. They have also created their own healthy food plates. 

9th May - Last week and this week, Year 6 have been enjoying Breakfast Club, a place where they can come and relax before their busy day ahead. 

29th April - This week Year 6 have practised being mindful to help them overcome feelings of worry. 

14th April - This week, Year 6 have studied the physical geography of India.

8th April - This week Year 6 have organised their Topic books, finding amazing art work that was completed earlier in the year. Below is Thomas' recreation of a Mayan mural. 

24th March - Today Year 6 participated in a colouring competition. Below are the winners! 

11th March - This week Year 6 helped take care of the newly-hatched chicks. 

4th March - This week, we celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite Roald Dahl characters. Can you guess who we are?

26th February - This week Year 6 raised money for charity by hosting playground games. It was a very successful week! Please look at next week's newsletter to find out how much they raised. 

11th February - As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations this week, Year 6 have taken part in a number of sixties-themed lessons, including PE. 

5th February - Year 6 experimented with electrical circuits this week. Tilly and Caitlin worked together and created an excellent report of their findings. They discovered that if you add more wires to an electrical circuit, the bulb will become dimmer. 

29th January 2016 - This week the children in Year 6 had to create a short story for their homework. Erin created a story with an important message about internet safety.

22nd January 2016 - Last week, the children prepared and tasted guacamole and salsa as part of their 'Maya' topic. 

7th January 2016 - This week some children in Year 6 gave presentations as part of their work for Computing. All children have designed their own apps and are now in the process of pitching them to a panel of buyers. 

18th December 2015 - We have created beautiful calendars to take home and give our families for Christmas.

11th December 2015 - This week, Year 6 had a visit from Mr Warhurst. He taught us all about being a police officer and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.

4th December 2015 - Year 6 learned about Scottish and Celtic folk tales as part of our school's Scottish Day celebrations. This is Katherine's response to one of the stories.

27th November 2015 - Year 6 have been researching apps as part of their Computing curriculum. After their research, they designed their own app specifically to help children in some way.

Their next steps are to pitch their ideas to a panel of interested 'buyers.'

20th November 2015 - This week the children researched more about inheritance. Some children thought about how they compare to their siblings.

13th November 2015 - Year 6 have worked hard at solving long division calculations, then applying this knowledge to answer word problems and challenges.

6th November 2015 - This week Year 6 have practised using the column method, including applying this method to help them solve problems.

23rd October 2015 - This week Year 6 created sketches of Mary Newbury, the main character from our class book, 'Witch Child'.

16th October - Year 6 enjoyed their trip to the Manchester Police Museum, where they learned about the station in Victorian times, punishments, and real-life stories. They also took part in a mock trial.

9th October 2015  -  Year 6 have created self portraits based on the work of Andy Warhol. Can you guess who these pictures are of?
