Welcome to the Year 6 Class Page
Friday 30th June - This week, Year 6 have enjoyed sharing special things with the rest of the class. Earlier in the week, Charlie showed us some of his bionicle creations. Today, Thomas showed us a special quilt made by his Aunt.
Friday 23rd June - This week, children in Year 6 have begun working through their second PSHE book about personal relationships and growth.
Friday 19th May - This week, Year 6 have enjoyed learning all about how to stay healthy. They have participated in a number of activities including healthy baking, mindfulness, a visit from a Dental nurse and a doctor, as well as extra PE lessons. They also visited Decathlon to learn about different sports.
Friday 12th May - This week, Year 6 have worked extremely hard to do their absolute best in the SATs tests. Well done!!
Friday 5th May - This week, the children in Year 6 have been working extremely hard to revise for their SATs, which they will sit next week.
Friday 28th April - This week, Year 6 played 'Sitting Volleyball' in PE, which is a Paralympic sport. The children enjoyed trying something new.
Friday 21st April - Today, Year 6 joined Reception to create Easter bonnets. Everyone had a lovely morning.
Friday 31st March - This week, children in Year 6 have been planning an Easter assembly. As part of this, they have been creating posters explaining how to be a loyal friend (this links to the mission that will be shared at the end of the assembly).
Friday 24th March - This week, as part of our school Science week, Year 6 tested the pH level of a variety of chemicals.
Friday 17th March - Today, Year 6 completed art work linked to St. Patrick's Day celebrations. They also learned about St. Patrick and why people around the world celebrate on this day.
Friday 10th March - This week, Year 6 have enjoyed raising money as part of our Lenten fundraising.
Friday 3rd March - Yesterday, Year 6 enjoyed dressing as their favourite book characters for World book Day.
Friday 17th February - This week Year 6 created work for a Collective Worship display. They were reflecting on how God shows His love for us through nature.
Friday 10th February - This week, children in Year 6 presented their own app creation to the whole class. Congratulations to the winners, Ella and Mia KH, who gave an excellent presentation. Thanks to Daniel T for being the class photographer!
Friday 27th January - This week, Year 6 enjoyed participating in a class debate during our Topic lesson. The children had to argue whether pictures, buildings, writing or objects are the most valuable historical source. After a very close debate, the overall winners were the team that were arguing for pictures.
Friday 20th January - Today, the children in Year 6 revised the names and properties of 2D shapes. It is very important that all children understand this aspect of the curriculum, therefore if any child feels less than confident with naming shapes they have been asked to revise them at home.
Friday 13th January - This week, Year 6 began learning about the Maya. They looked at ways that we know about the Maya, such as through their buildings and art work.
Friday 6th January - Today, Year 6 investigated electrical circuits. They studied circuit diagrams and tested whether they would work.
Friday 16th December - Today, Year 6 created beautiful calendars.
Friday 2nd December - This week the children have been busy creating amazing responses to their Google Experience. For homework, the children had to make a piece of work linked to 'The Seven New Wonders of the World'.
Friday 25th November - This week Year 6 enjoyed lots of exciting activities including a visit from Google Expeditions. They virtually travelled to see 'The New 7 Wonders of the World'. As well as this, Year 6 participated in a Scooter festival.
Friday 18th November - This week was 'Anti-Bullying Week'. Year 6 created posters which inform children what to do if they feel that they are being bullied.
Friday 11th November - Today, Year 6 wrote a recount of a few chapters from 'Wonder' by R.J. Palacio. They focused on tense as well as verb form.
21st October 2016 - Today, Year 6 have performed a song with Mr Smith.
Friday 14th October - This week, Year 6 have created their own shadow puppets. They have learned that shadows are formed when opaque objects block a light source.
Friday 7th October - Today, the children in Year 6 played with their Special Friends from Reception.
30th September - This week Year 6 imagined that they travelled to Paris for a holiday. They wrote all about what they did in a letter home.
23rd September - This week Year 6 enjoyed spending time playing games together. They had to choose games that didn't include a ball to encourage new friendships.
Friday 16th September - This week Year 6 have been learning new words linked to Viking invasions. These include maraud, dwell and colonise.
Friday 9th September - This week we have celebrated our grandparents by writing a prayer for them.
