Year 4

Year 4 2022 - 2023

Week beginning 23.1.22

To finish our block of learning in music, the children prepared an arrangement for a verse or chorus of ‘This little light of mine’ . They designed their arrangements with different rhythms, vocal effects and solo parts. It was fantastic to see and hear! The children also started their new Art topic and used compasses to draw circles.

Week beginning 16.1.23

Fantastic work in music this week. The children have been playing glockenspiels to the tune of 'This Little Light Of Mine', and experimenting with arrangements to sing 'I wanna sing scat'. Next week, we will be moving on to our next topic which is art based. We are all looking forward to it!

Week beginning 9.1.22

An excellent first (full) week back. The children got stuck into their new topics and have enjoyed singing, dancing and smiling along to 'This Little Light Of Mine'. We have also seen some excellent work in all other curriculum areas. The photos below show evidence of that in English and Science.

Week beginning 28.11.22

The children worked in small groups to find out the differences between mammals, fish and birds and then vertebrates and invertebrates. They used trusted websites and safe searching strategies which they have been learning about in Computing.

Week beginning 21.11.22

This week we had a visitor to Year 4 called Sam. She was from the Brain injury trust and talked to the class about the function of the brain, how we can look after it and how a brain injury can affect our emotions and general wellbeing.

Week beginning 14.11.22

This week we celebrated anti-bullying week. The children showed a fantastic attitude when learning about race bullying or racism. They discussed various scenarios before creating an anti-racism poster for homework.

Week beginning 7.11.22

The children have been looking at artefacts from the Second World War including gas masks, medals and diaries. They also worked in pairs to find out more about rationing using the iPads.

Week beginning 17.10.22

Year 4 have had a marvellous final week, which included their excellent Harvest assembly and the TTRockstars launch day. When performing the assembly, the children were calm, read their lines clearly, sang brilliantly and made all of the Year 4 team very proud!

Week beginning 10.10.22

On Monday, Year 4 took part in a cycle safety session called Headsmart. The children watched a video about a boy called Joe, who suffered life changing injuries after an accident that occurred whilst cycling without a helmet. Following this, they were expertly lead through a simple 'eggsperiment' by Andy from the road safety team.

Week beginning 3.10.22

Another busy week in Year 4 with lots of new learning in Maths, English and Topic. In Science, The children created posters explaining how to keep your teeth healthy.

Week beginning 26.9.22

This week, Year 4 have been finishing their topic on seasonal food, making mind maps, learning about teeth, solving 4 digit number reasoning problems and writing diary entries. Some brilliant examples of this work can be found below.
