Tuesday 23rd July

On their final day of Year 6, the children enjoyed spending time with their Special Friends and tucking into some delicious cakes. Goodbye and good luck, class of 2024 - we will miss you! ❤️

Friday 19th July

This week, we enjoyed sculpting clay warriors, inspired by the Terracotta Army.

Friday 12th July

This week, the children enjoyed performing 'Pantastic'. They put on an amazing show, singing beautifully and delivering their lines with great confidence. Well done, Year 6! To celebrate all of the children's hard work, we enjoyed an end-of-year picnic at Bramhall Park.

Friday 5th July

This week, we have thoroughly enjoyed our Chinese art topic. We explored dragons in traditional Chinese art, learned about The Four gentlemen, and attempted to use calligraphy.

Friday 28th June

Year 6 enjoyed their final St. Peter's Sports Day on Tuesday. They all put in maximum effort and were very supportive team members - well done, Year 6! This afternoon, everyone enjoyed expressing themselves creatively during enrichment time. 

Friday 21st June 

We had a great time searching the rock pools and finding fossils at Robin Hood’s Bay. 🦀🐚

We had an amazing day at Flamingo Land! 🎢☀️🏴‍☠️

Wednesday 19th June 

We are having another brilliant day in Whitby! Today we enjoyed a trip to the park, a sand sculpture competition at the beach, a boat trip, shopping in Whitby town and a visit to St. Mary’s church. ☀️

Tuesday 18th June

We are having a brilliant time in Whitby! Today we enjoyed playing at Mini Monsterz, eating delicious fish and chips for lunch, exploring Whitby and playing on the beach in the sunshine.

Monday 17th June

We have had a great first day of our residential! We enjoyed exploring York minster and playing games together.

Friday 14th June

This week, the children made an excellent start to the final half-term at St. Peter’s. They enjoyed finishing their geography topic by researching different countries in North America and making comparisons with our local area. We also enjoyed sharing our maths board games with our special friends in Reception. 

Friday 24th May

We have had a very busy week in Year 6! On Wednesday, we celebrated National Numeracy Day and thought about how we might use maths in our future careers. We also made maths board games for our Special Friends in Reception. In science, we enjoyed experimenting with different circuits. In geography, we learned more about North America and the Grand Canyon. 

Friday 17th May

This week, we enjoyed working in groups to investigate and compare different climates in North America. We also had lots of fun playing rounders once we finished our SATs.  

Friday 10th May

This week, we enjoyed exploring a range of books about North America and the Grand Canyon.

Friday 3rd May

This week, we enjoyed developing our teamwork and relay skills during our athletics lesson. 

Friday 26th April

This week, we enjoyed investigating static electricity as part of our new science topic, 'Changing Circuits'. In maths, we learned more about algebra. 

 

Friday 19th April

This week, we enjoyed learning about artificial intelligence and machine learning as part of our new computing topic. In PE, we have been developing our relay techniques.  

Thursday 28th March

This week, we took part in a Holy Week reflection, retelling the events of Jesus’ arrest and Peter’s denial. The children did an excellent job. They also made beautiful Easter cards this week. On Monday, we were visited by firefighters who spoke to us about fire safety in the home and about hoax calls. 

Friday 22nd March

This week, we explored a range of primary and secondary sources to learn about the lives of women in the 1950s. We also enjoyed our tennis lesson. 🎾

Friday 15th March

This week, we enjoyed learning about the suffragette movement. We created our own placards and marched around the playground, imagining what it would have been like to have been a suffragette.

Friday 8th March

We had a great time celebrating World Book Day! We especially enjoyed sharing stories with our Special Friends in Reception. 📚

Thursday 29th February

We enjoyed an excellent gymnastics session from ACE Coaching. It was difficult to take photos because everyone was moving and jumping so quickly! What a fun way to stay healthy! 😃

Friday 23rd February

This week, we enjoyed making burgers and burger sauces as part of our DT topic. They looked fantastic! We also had great fun during our Lenten games and we raised lots of money for charity. 

Friday 9th February

This week, we finished our unit of writing inspired by ‘The Selfish Giant’. The children worked in pairs to edit their stories. 

Friday 2nd February 

We finished our landscape art topic by using different materials to create our final piece. We are so proud of our work! 

Friday 26th January 

This week, we enjoyed exploring patterns and creating abstract landscape artwork. Another highlight of our week was an active maths lesson which combined maths, teamwork and a challenging circuit of activities. 

Friday 19th January

We have had a great week in Year 6! Our highlights included our brilliant class assembly, painting watercolour landscapes and some excellent team work in maths. 

Friday 12th January

This week, we enjoyed experimenting with various watercolour techniques in our art lesson. We also learned how to use the vanishing point and horizon line to create a sense of perspective in landscape art.

Friday 5th January

This week, the children enjoyed working in groups in English to describe a setting from our new book, ‘The Selfish Giant’. They showed good teamwork when creating their own clapping games during a music lesson and they also enjoyed taking part in a Kahoot quiz to review some content from the autumn term.

Friday 22nd December

We have had a very busy and fun-filled final week! Our highlights included party day, a talent show, making Christmas cards and calendars, and performing in our wonderful carol service. Well done, Year 6! 

Friday 15th December

This week, we enjoyed a mini football tournament during PE. 

Friday 8th December 

Highlights of our week included learning about microorganisms in science and balancing on different points and patches during our gymnastics lesson. We also enjoyed working in pairs to solve fraction problems in maths this week. 

Friday 1st December

This week, we enjoyed investigating land use in our local area and the children suggested improvements that they would like to make. The children also produced detailed, eye-catching fact files about Hazel Grove.

Friday 24th November

One highlight of our week was sharing the ‘I have a dream’ speeches that the children had written for homework as part of our ‘Justice’ topic. I was so impressed by their confidence and passion as they spoke about their hopes and dreams for the future of the world. 🌎✨

Friday 17th November

This week, we enjoyed celebrating Maths Week England by taking part in an active maths challenge. We also finished our ‘Programming in Scratch’ topic which the children loved!  

Friday 10th November

We’ve had a very busy week in Year 6! This week, we have enjoyed computing, creating sequences in gymnastics and working in pairs in English to write informative paragraphs. The children also enjoyed learning to solve calculations with mixed operations in maths. 

Friday 3rd November

This week, we started a new computing topic: Programming in Scratch. The children showed great enthusiasm, confidence and resilience as they designed and played their own computer games. Well done, Year 6! In maths, the children worked in pairs to solve multiplication and division problems.

Friday 20th October

We have had a very busy final week of the half-term! Our highlights included writing biographies of Ruby Bridges, delivering presentations about Viking life and learning about how England became a unified country.

Friday 13th October

This week, we have enjoyed learning more about what life was like for the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. The children used books to research the topic and make comparisons. They also enjoyed using Viking runes to write their names. 

Friday 6th October

Our highlight this week was our Special Friends assembly - the children were very excited to be paired up with a Reception child and they had a fun morning playing and getting to know each other. This week, we started our new history topic, all about the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. The children learned a song about Viking invasions - you can watch a video below.

Friday 29th September

This week, the children showed great creativity and resilience when constructing their kites using their chosen materials. I was so impressed with their final designs! The children particularly enjoyed testing out their kites with the Reception children. 🪁 

Friday 22nd September

This week, we enjoyed creating and testing prototype kites using different materials. We are excited to create our final kite designs next week. 🪁 Another highlight of our week was spending time with the Reception children. We can’t wait for our Special Friends assembly in a couple of weeks!

Friday 15th September

The children have made an excellent start to Year 6! Some of our highlights so far include creating artwork inspired by God’s kingdom and working in pairs to create a hanging compass. The children also enjoyed their first hockey and tag rugby lessons.
