Friday 15th July
This week, the children enjoyed performing ‘Olivia’ in front of their friends, family members and the other classes. Everyone worked together to give 3 EXCELLENT performances - well done, Year 6!

We enjoyed our retreat day at St. Peter’s Church with children from St. Simon’s and St. Philip’s.
Friday 1st July
This week, we learned about the Sacrament of Confirmation. We know that we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit through this Sacrament. We reflected on how we can use these gifts in our lives.
Friday 24th June
This week, children in Year 6 created lovely acrostic poems based on their uniqueness. They also enjoyed working in pairs to calculate different percentages of amounts.
Friday 17th June
This week, we enjoyed celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with our special friends in Reception. We also took part in a crown designing competition in class. Also, we created bunting to share our hopes for the world over the next 70 years.
Friday 27th May
This week, we enjoyed listening to some FANTASTIC presentations about life in the Indus Valley. I was so impressed by the effort that went into them - well done, Year 6! In our RE lessons this week, we used drama to explore different scenarios including Peter’s miraculous escape from prison.
Friday 20th May
In today’s RE lesson, we learned more about Pentecost and the children produced some lovely creative work. The children have enjoyed working in groups during Maths lessons this week. They have been working on a theme park project with various links to Maths such as calculating building costs and running costs.
Friday 13th May
After working so hard during SATs week, we enjoyed a brilliant morning of art today. As our new topic is ‘The Indus Valley’, we created artwork including charcoal elephants and Indian patterns.
Friday 6th May
This week, the children have been working very hard to consolidate their knowledge of maths and English. Their focused attitudes have been extremely impressive! They particularly enjoyed their music lesson with Mr Smith today.

This week, the children demonstrated great team working skills when helping each other to solve ratio problems.

Today we enjoyed helping our Special Friends to create Easter crafts. It was a lovely way to spend time together.
Friday 8th April
This week, we shared our Stations of the Cross service with the rest of the school in preparation for Holy Week. All pupils were fantastic at acting out the final events of Jesus’ life. We also made beautiful Easter cards.
Friday 1st April
One highlight of our week was our sponge throwing fundraiser. The children had so much fun while raising money for Mission Together and people in Ukraine. Well done, Year 6! This week, we also used the iPads to understand the features of free verse poetry and to read some examples of free verse poems.
Friday 25th March
This week, the children estimated, calculated and compared the volume of cubes and cuboids. Today, we took part in a fundraising walk with our Special Friends in Reception to raise money for Mission Together and people impacted by the crisis in Ukraine. We enjoyed spending time with our Special Friends in the sunshine and we hope to raise lots of money for these charities.
Friday 18th March
In our science lesson this week, the children investigated the impact of exercise on their bodies. They measured their pulse before, during and after exercise. They also created some excellent scientific drawings of the heart. In maths, the children enjoyed working together to calculate the area and perimeter of compound shapes.
Friday 11th March
Today we celebrated World Book Day linked to our class novel, ‘The Curse of the Maya’. We enjoyed reading our story, creating art and interviewing each other in role as characters. We made our own quiz, sang a song and we even tried some Maya food and drinks! What an amazing day! Scroll down to see a performance of our Maya song.
Friday 25th February
This week, our highlights included creating lovely artwork of motmot birds, found in the Maya region. In our English lessons, we wrote balanced arguments to discuss whether children’s screen time should be limited to 30 minutes per day - we were all keen to share our opinions! We then helped our partners to edit their work. We also enjoyed spending some time playing with our special friends in Reception.
Friday 11th February
We have enjoyed celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week with the theme of ‘Growing Together’. We thought about who helps us to grow and we reflected on how we have grown in different ways so far this year. All children also designed posters to show how they look after their mental health. We also recognised Safer Internet Day by thinking carefully about how to be a good friend online.
Friday 4th February
This week, children in Year 6 have enjoyed working in pairs to creative informative posters in their RE and reading lessons. We also enjoyed another active maths lesson.
Friday 28th January
This week, we enjoyed sketching places in the Maya region. In our active maths lesson, we worked together to solve calculations involving different measures. Scroll down for a video of a poem that we enjoyed performing in one of our English lessons this week.
Friday 21st January
We have been learning about where the Maya successfully settled this week. We used iPads to study maps of Central America. In addition, we painted watercolour backdrops to display our setting descriptions of the Guatemalan jungle. We also enjoyed working in pairs to revisit some key concepts in Maths.
Friday 14th January
This week, children in Year 6 worked hard to plan, write and edit their newspaper reports. Their finished reports look very professional - well done, Year 6!

Friday 10th December
This week we enjoyed a visit to the Baptist Church to take part in the Christmas story trail. Other highlights included an active maths lesson exploring fractions, decimals and percentages. In English, we used drama to explore the poem ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.

One highlight of our week was making Viking longships. We can’t wait to add the finishing touches next week!
Friday 26th November
This week, we created remembrance stones which will be added to our prayer garden. Each remembrance stone has its own unique and thoughtful design. In our science lesson this week, the children enjoyed working in groups to investigate what affects the brightness of a circuit.
Friday 19th November
This week we enjoyed attending the Crucial Crew child safety event. We learned lots of interesting facts about how to stay safe in different situations. Another highlight was our ‘Boogie Bounce’ session - we had so much fun!
Friday 12th November
This week, we enjoyed celebrating National Maths Week. Other highlights included creating artwork inspired by our focus text, ‘The Viewer’. I am SO impressed with the standard of work that you have produced this week - well done, Year 6!
Friday 5th November
This week the children worked in groups to create graphs showing the highs and lows of the Vikings in England. We had a good discussion about how the Vikings demonstrated resilience.
Friday 22nd October
We have had an action-packed week to conclude our first half term in Year 6. Our highlights included an end-of-unit class athletics competition. The children all demonstrated the Olympic values of passion, determination, honesty and self belief. We also concluded our Computing unit with ‘Dragon’s Den’ presentations for the children to pitch their app designs. They showed great confidence and had very creative ideas. What an excellent way to end the half term!
Friday 15th October
This week, the children enjoyed creating eye-catching, informative posters about Viking animals. We were also lucky to enjoy some more time outside getting to know the Reception children.
Friday 8th October
What a fantastic week! Our highlights of this week have included Viking longship art, spending time with the children in Reception, practising the triple jump with Mrs O’Hare and listening to everybody’s Viking presentations. I was blown away by your efforts. Well done, Year 6!
Friday 1st October
This week, the children enjoyed creating presentations to pitch their app designs. In the coming weeks, they will present their ideas to an audience, in the style of a ‘Dragon’s Den’ pitch. The children also created some lovely RE work, reflecting on how they can show commitment to God’s Kingdom.
Friday 24th September
This week, children in Year 6 enjoyed working in pairs to develop their own app designs. They also took part in a circle time session involving giving each other anonymous compliments. What a lovely way to end the week!
