Welcome to Year 3's class page!

 

Friday 20th March

 

Today we all enjoyed getting creative and the children produced some beautiful creative R.E. artwork.

Friday 6th March

 

This week we have been looking out for random acts of kindness, which we are particularly trying to do during Lent. For World Book Day, we enjoyed looking at different quotes from the Bible. We discussed what we thought each quote means and which ones we liked the best. This week we also enjoyed painting volcanoes as we have started our new topic, ‘Extreme Earth’.

Friday 28th February

 

What a busy week to start the half term! This week the children enjoyed constructing 3D shapes, experimenting with different types of soil and having a PE lesson with Mrs O’Hare. 

Friday 14th February

 

We have had a fantastic week celebrating our love of reading. The week has been full of exciting activities, have a look at the pictures below to see what we have been up to.

Friday 7th February

 

This week the children enjoyed working together to edit videos of our rainforest themed dance. In our RE lessons, the children created some beautiful artwork inspired by the Eucharist. 

Friday 31st January

 

This week the children enjoyed working in pairs to create story maps of ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’. The children then used the story maps to retell the story verbally. The children have also been learning about the different layers of the rainforest and they created digital posters to share what they have learned.

Friday 24th January

 

This week we enjoyed acting out scenes from ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’. The last picture shows our reactions to the end of the story.

Friday 17th January

 

This week all of the children took part in our class liturgy, which had the theme of looking after our planet. In our science lesson this week, the children enjoyed investigating different rocks to discover how they were formed.

Friday 10th January

 

Happy new year! The children have returned to school well rested after the Christmas break and we have had a great first week of the term.
 

The children have enjoyed:

  • Working in partners to organise sentences into paragraphs.
  • Making careful scientific observations of different rocks.
  • Taking a virtual reality tour of a rainforest.

 

Friday 20th December

 

What a fantastic week! This week the children have really enjoyed getting into the festive spirit as we countdown to Christmas. We enjoyed doing some Christmas maths activities, making cards and celebrating at our Christmas party.

 

Well done to the children for all their hard work this term. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all in January.

Friday 13th December

 

This week we enjoyed experimenting with magnets and finding out what happens when you put opposite poles or the same poles together. The children also worked very well together in pairs during an English lesson earlier this week.

Friday 6th December

 

This week we enjoyed doing watercolour paintings of Advent wreaths. In maths, we worked in pairs to look at arrays and we wrote down the multiplication and division calculations that related to each picture. 

 

 

Friday 22nd November

 

This week we have been preparing for our PSHE assembly next week, which will focus on anti-bullying. We created Pic Collage posters on the iPads to share what we have learned about gender stereotype bullying. This week we also enjoyed painting our Greek ceramic pots.

Friday 15th November

 

Today we enjoyed tasting some delicious Greek food and we worked together to make a healthy Greek salad. Earlier in the week, we did a science investigation to explore the amount of friction that different surfaces have. We also enjoyed an active maths lesson.

Friday 8th November

 

We have had another great week in Year 3. Today we have been practising our sketching skills by sketching the Parthenon and columns in the style of ancient Greek temples and buildings. Earlier in the week, we enjoyed an active maths lesson, focusing on addition.

 

Friday 1st November

 

This week we have enjoyed learning more about our topic of ancient  Greece. We have been learning about the alphabet used in Ancient Greece and the history of Greek gods and goddesses. Today we have been working in partners to show what we have learned about the theatre in Ancient Greece.

Friday 18th October

 

We have had a very busy final week of the half term! Our highlights have included performing poetry with musical instruments and learning about how the Olympics started in ancient Greece. We hope you all have a lovely half term break!

Friday 11th October

 

This week we enjoyed working with an artist to create pots in the style of ancient Greek pottery. Also, we used the iPads to create posters all about gas safety.

Friday 4th October

 

This week we have been focusing on writing instructions in our English lessons, inspired by ‘How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth’. We also enjoyed following  a set of instructions to make origami elephants. 

Friday 27th September

 

We have had another busy week in Year 3! We have been learning more about France to celebrate European day of Languages. Also, we enjoyed active maths sessions earlier in the week. In our history lesson, we created a timeline of some Ancient Greek events.

Friday 20th September

 

This week we enjoyed predicting what might happen next in the story ‘The Girl in the Forest’. We used drama to act out our ideas. We also used iPads to research facts about modern Greece and we compared it to the U.K. 

Friday 13th September

 

This week we worked in pairs to create posters all about the wider Church community. In Science, we presented data about healthy eating by creating bar charts. 

Friday 6th September

The children have made an excellent start to Year 3! We have had a busy first few days getting to know each other and starting our new topics. The children particularly enjoyed our first Art lesson. Stay tuned to see pictures of the finished pieces!
