In April 2013, the Government announced new funding 'Sports Premium' of £150 million to support the development of Physical Education (P.E.) and Sport in schools. The funding is to be used to improve the quality and breadth of P.E. and Sport provision. All schools are able to decide how the proportion of funding allocated to them is to be spent to ensure improvement in quality and breadth of P.E. and Sport provision including increasing participation in P.E. and Sports so ensuring that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels of which they are capable.
In addition to curriculum P.E. delivered by class teachers, St Peter's employ a specialist P.E. teacher, Mr D Emsley to work alongside teachers in lessons to increase their subject knowledge, confidence and the quality of P.E. and Sport on offer to our pupils. Mr Emsley also leads and supports staff in the delivery of extra curricular sporting activities such as Cross Country.
