Week beginning 14th December 2020
It was fantastic to see all Reception's lovely smiling faces on Monday.
We have enjoyed a very eventful week in school.
The children have been fantastic stars performing their nativity play 'A very Special Baby'.
This week everyone gets a certificate for their excellent behaviour and effort with our play.
On Thursday we were lucky to have a visit from from Father Christmas on party day.
The Reception staff would like to wish you all a happy, healthy and relaxing Christmas.

Week beginning 7th December 2020
Even though it has been a short week in school the children have been busy learning e.g. how to
play dominoes, make some Christmas decorations, learn a new ICT game and
spending time looking at the Christmas books.
Well done to everyone this week, your all stars! Keep well and stay safe.
Week beginning 30th November 2020
On Monday we began preparing for Christmas. The children were introduced to our class Advent Wreath and they have begun to learn about the meaning of the first candle on the Advent wreath.
The children have written their Advent promises thinking about how they can help others.
We have had fun in our Toy Shop Museum finding out about
old toys, buying and selling toys as well as writing shopping lists.

Week beginning 23rd November 2020
This week we have been listening to lots of stories about toys e.g. 'Lost in the Toy Museum' by David Lucas. We have painted our favourite toy to go on the shelves in our Toy Museum Shop. On Wednesday we looked at Miss Miller's toys that she had as a girl. On Thursday we sorted out photos of old and new toys.

This week we have been working hard with our maths, participating in a car colour survey and learning about what makes a great friend through different stories and activities (Anti-Bullying Week)

This week we have been busy doing lots of activities
e.g. ordering numbers, matching amounts, counting on game,
We have been reading the following books: -
'I love you Blue Kangaroo' and 'What shall we do Blue Kangaroo?' .
In small groups the children were asked to build something for toys to play in. They came up with some super ideas e.g. castle, coach, camper van.
The St. Peter's Family helped them to make their constructions

Remembrance Day 11th November 2020
Week beginning 2nd November 2020
Welcome back everyone after the half term.
This week we have been on a shape hunt in our outdoor area, then we worked together to sort the 2D shapes. We have painted and printed our own Autumn trees, as well as making a repeating pattern on the computer.
We have been reading the following books: -
'Were going on a bear hunt' and 'Were going on a leaf hunt' .
In groups of 15 we have been making our own obstacle courses using our St. Peter's Family to help us - Thelma the Thinker, Tim the Team Worker, Percy the Participator and Sandy the Self-Manager.

Week beginning 19th October 2020
This week we have worked in pairs to make a picture of something God made for us to look after.
The children have made some amazing leaf animals.
We have listened to the story ‘The Magic Bed’ by John Burningham and created our own magic flying bed. Please ask your child what their magic word is to make their bed fly.

Week beginning 12th October 2020
This week we have been listening to the story ‘Mr Gumpy's Motor Car’ by John Burningham.
We then made large cars out of our outdoor construction equipment.
We have listened to the story ‘Were Going on a leaf Hunt’ by Steve Metzger and discussed the season of Autumn. Working in pairs we explored our school grounds looking for signs of Autumn. Together we collected Autumn items in preparation for making a picture of something God made for us to look after.

We have been listening to the story ’Oi! Get Off Our train’ by John Burningham.
Working as teams we have made trains out of different items.

This week we have been learning how to use the road works and mechanic shop equipment.
We have been working together inside and outside of our classroom learning how to share our equipment.
We have listened to author and illustrator Kristina Stephenson tell us a story about the wonderful world of
Sir Charlie Stinky Socks – the bold, brave, little knight with a heart of gold.
We helped Sir Charlie on his quest for hidden treasure by following the clues and solving the riddles on a mystical map, in a magical, musical retelling of The Tale of Two Treasures. There were puppets, props and songs. We even learnt how to make our own treasure chest.
