Children at St. Peter’s Catholic Primary School are offered a high quality Relationships and Health Education curriculum, which is underpinned by Catholic Teachings and has elements of the previously known RHE curriculum and as such our RHE curriculum is rooted in our vision and values as a faith school and reflects our Catholic Ethos. Relationships and Health Education focuses on giving pupils the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships, and to build their self-efficacy. Health education focusses on equipping pupils with the knowledge they need to make good decisions about their own health (including physical bodies) and wellbeing.  We understand our responsibility to deliver a high-quality, age-appropriate Relationship and Health curriculum for all our pupils.

The RHE teaching  is informed by values of love and tolerance to others and enables our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of the Catholic Society and further to become productive members of the wider world.

Through RHE children are encouraged to develop their full potential in every dimension of their learning so that they can fulfil their God-given talents. Relationships and health education develops pupils personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society.

Following our parental consultation in Spring 2022, our children are taught Relationships and Health Education primarily using 'Life to the Full' produced by the Catholic Educational organisation Ten Ten. The Life to the Full programme is based on the structure of ‘A Model Catholic RSE Curriculum’ by the Catholic Education Service. This model curriculum was highlighted as a work of good practice by the Department of Education.

There is an online parent portal so that parents can engage with the teaching and deepen the experience for your child.  To access the parent portal, please follow this link:  www.tentenresources.co.uk/parent-portal

Please contact the school office if you need the log-in details previously provided to parents.

Parents may withdraw their child from certain aspects of our RHE programme.  Please see our school policy and module overview.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at school.
