Thursday 12th March

The children are all having a fabulous time! Yesterday we enjoyed lots of great activities including obstacle challenges, buggy building, orienteering and nightline.

Wednesday 11th March

Year 5 children are having a fantastic week at Kingswood! Take a look at the pictures to see what we’ve been up to.

Friday 6th March 2020

Year 5 have created an impressive video in response to the question 'What does our School Mission mean to you?'. They initially thought about the question and all of the different ways our mission affects our lives. They then chose one word to encapsulate its meaning for them. After that, they presented their word on the iPads before coming up with the video idea. Well done Year 5!

You can find it in the 'Gallery' section of the website!

Friday 28th February

This week the Year 5 children produced excellent instructions on how to make the perfect pancake. I'm sure their work came in handy on Tuesday evening! The class also spent a quality lesson evaluating and discussing Rembrandt's The Lost Son. This forms part of our Reconciliation unit of work. Finally, we spent some more time in our fantastic library listening to our class book, 'Mr Mumbles'.

Friday 14th February

This week Year 5 enjoyed many activities in celebration of our Reading Week! The children took part in a brilliant investigative workshop with AS Creative on Monday, they participated in a courtroom drama on Tuesday, Wednesday saw an author visit the children. On Thursday, we dressed up as characters from our 'Unexpected Visitors' theme. On Friday we completed several fun reading based activities and as usual the children were fantastic! What a week!

Friday 7th February

This week is Children's Mental Health week. On Tuesday morning Mrs McDonagh led the class discussion on this topic. The class responses were mature and responsible. Many areas of mental health were discussed before the children finished the session with some artwork representing themselves as unique and loved. Please take time this week to speak with your child about this very important issue.

Friday 30th January 2020

This week Year 5 have enjoyed two highlights! The first was an excellent practical maths lesson using cubes and pots and the second was the very special Collective Worship we celebrated in the Faith Room on Thursday. Joe treated us to a beautiful relaxing piano piece as we reflected on our mission. What a treat! Well done on another brilliant week children.

Friday 24th January 2020

This week Year 5 continued their exploration of the Stockport viaduct in their artwork. This week's lesson centred around creating abstract pieces of art using the viaduct and its shapes as inspiration. The class worked hard on this challenging objective and produced work that they can be proud of, yet again. I have included images from across the unit of work below.

Friday 17th January

This week the highlight has undoubtedly been Mrs Hopton's science lesson. The children tested various materials in an attempt to create the most wind resistant parachute. The team work exemplified was fantastic and the focus of the children on the task at hand was very impressive! Well done Year 5.

Friday 10th January

One of this week's highlights was the beautiful Collective Worship planned by the children for Tuesday morning. We celebrated new beginnings and gave thanks for Christmas. The children thought about the readings they would share, the focal point for our prayers as well as music and seating layout. Photos below.

Friday 6th December

This week we have been using a story map to help us learn the Kipling story 'How the Rhino Got His Skin'. The children read the story several times and heard it read to them from several sources. They then created their story map of key words and icons that helped them remember the story's key phrases and moments. Finally, they rewrote the story from memory (with the odd sneaky look at their story map). Mrs Finan joined the class to celebrate their wonderful week's work on Friday.

Have a look at the pictures below. Well done Year 5.

Friday 29th November

On Thursday we revisited our Mission Statement and explored the line'We help those in need'. the pictures below show the truly brilliant work done by Year 5 on the day. Well done children.

Friday 22nd November

One of the highlights this week was the models produced in Year 5 based on the Exodus. The children followed instructions very carefully to produce excellent finished products. All this within an hour long lesson - very impressive!

Friday 8th November

As part of our School Linking Project, Year 5 travelled to Z Arts Centre on Thursday to meet their new friends from Gorse Hill Primary School in Stretford. It was a fantastic day! The schools merged into two groups - half St Peter's and half Gorse Hill. Thy took part in a street dance session and a screen printing activity - all the while getting to know their new friends. We cannot wait for the next step on the journey! As always, the children were a credit to you and the school.

Friday 11th October

This week the children decided on creating a cross on our Prayer Garden using plastic bags. This linked to our mission of being stewards of the earth - looking after God's amazing world. The lucky children who constructed the cross we our Faith Council members Ella and Sam G.

Friday 4th October

This week we took a delivery of a very special parcel: our new Wet Play / Golden time board games!

Please see the photos below for more information!

Friday 20th September

In our RE topic we are called to be stewards of the Earth. We decided that we could look after our local area by providing a place for the birds to feed, especially when the weather turns cold and frosty. we made bird feeders!
