2024-2025

Friday 22nd November

This week, our class honed our skills in dodgeball and practised team building skills with Stockport County for emotional well-being. We also played bingo with our chosen Super Strengths, used multi-link cubes to discuss factor in Maths, wrote letters in thanks to PGL for English and conducted research about the River Nile for our Geography work.

Today we’ve tackled the zipwire, giant swing and archery. We also enjoyed learning survival skills, building dens and singing songs around the campfire. 🔥🪵 What a brilliant day!

Thursday 14th November

Good morning from PGL! We have had a great night and a lovely breakfast this morning. We are looking forward to abseiling, the giant swing, zip wire and other activities today.

Wednesday 13th November

We have had a brilliant first day at PGL! We enjoyed problem solving activities in the woods and tackling the trapeze! We are looking forward to tonight’s balloon splash activity and another fun-filled day tomorrow.

Friday 8th November

This week, our class worked hard in Geography, learning how rivers work and how they carry materials and rocks. We stood together to create our own river outside and practiced watching the water and materials being carried to the deposits by the river’s mouth. We also practiced trying to read each other’s facial expressions in this week’s emotional health and well-being session and played several sports activities to encourage teamwork. Lastly, as part of Break the Rules Day, our class took the role of the teacher in Maths by preparing quizzes in groups to share with the rest of the class!

Friday 1st November

This week, our class continued to produce incredible work about how we can use a growth mindset to feel positive about our achievements. We also looked at how we can make people feel like they belong in a group or setting.

Friday 18th October

This week, our class finished off DT with sessions on debugging problems in Scratch as well as designing a prototype and presenting a new product. We also had our second session about Emotional Wellbeing with our exceptional helpers. During the session, we considered how gratitude can boost our wellbeing. Finally, we ended the week with an enrichment session in which we assumed the role of actors and directors. We recreated a scene from The Incredibles. Thank you all for your hard work and have a very good holiday!

Friday 11th October

This week, our class continued their work in D.T. through use of the Bee Bots, considering how to give precise instructions in an algorithm and learning the definition of ‘debugging’. We had a presentation from our fantastic helpers at MMU which helped our class consider how to deal with our emotions. We also ended the week with a fun Just Dance Marathon!

Friday 4th October

This week, our class started our new Topic unit on Programming Pioneers in DT. We have studied and written our own algorithms and used Scratch in the ICT suite.

Friday 27th September

This week, our class continued their hard work in studying the Ancient Greeks by making posters following their research into Greek philosophers and scholars. We also presented our posters about non-English speaking countries!

Friday 20th September

This week, our class conducted independent research about the Greek Gods in order to make their own top trump cards! We also studied the characters of our current English book: ‘Queen of the Falls’ and learned about the language used in news reports.
