Religious Education at St. Peter’s
At St. Peter’s, our aims, vision and values are at the core of everything we do.
We are guided by the key message of our Mission Statement,
'If we follow Jesus, the world will follow us.'
As a school located within the Diocese of Shrewsbury, we provide a curriculum for our children in line with the wishes of Bishop Mark. As part of this, we are currently journeying towards delivering the new directory, To Know you More Clearly and the scheme 'The Vine and the Branches'. The outcome of this excellent religious education is religiously literate and consciously engaged young people who have the knowledge, understanding, and skills, appropriate to their age and capacity, to reflect spiritually, and think ethically and theologically, and who recognise the demands of religious commitment in everyday life. More information about this document can be found below along with our Curriculum Overview. (Coming soon)
The scheme is divided into six Branches.
1.Creation and Covenant
2.Prophecy and Promise
3.Galilee to Jerusalem
4.Desert to Garden
5.To the Ends of the Earth
6.Dialogue and Encounter
For each of the six branches, there are five or six units. Each unit begins with Scripture and the whole scheme is based around listening to and becoming familiar with the Word of God. During RE lessons, pupils are given the chance to consider discern questions. The children also enjoy the creative elements of RE lessons.
