Reception Celebration of the Word

In our Celebration of the Word on Monday we thought about what we have learnt so far about Jesus,

about the great love He has for each one of us and the ways that we can show our love for Jesus.

 

Thank you to Deacon Kevin and everyone else who was able to attend.

 

There was lots of lovely comments made by our visitors e.g. 

     "Well done Reception, such lovely speaking and a fantastic song.",

       "Great job reading your lines, we could hear you all loud and clear'."

"You were all brave, confident and absolutely brilliant especially

with the song 'Our God is a Great Big God'."

World Book Day

5th March

Week beginning 27th February 2026

This week we have been learning all about the Chinese New Year.

On Friday the children were great joining in with their Chinese banquet.

They enjoyed tasting new foods such as noodles, cabbage, prawn crackers and

trying to use chopsticks! 

Thank you to Mr White who cooked the food and

brought the children a Chinese cookie and Chinese money for them to take home.

This week the children participated in a range of activities linked to maths, winter etc..

Week beginning  30th January 2026

This week the children participated in a lovely

Celebration of the Word linked to Jesus asking the Disciples to be Fishers of Men.

Week beginning 19th January 2026

This week the children have been learning about the composition of 6 7 8 9 and 10.

We learnt that Muslims go to a Mosque to pray and then have a party to celebrate Eid-al-Fitr.

In our 10:10 we have learning that we are all unique, with individual gifts, talents and skills.

 

Week beginning 12th January 2026

This week the children have been learning about Jesus as a little boy,

wondering if he played the same games as them and helped around the house. 

One of our Rainbow Challenges this week was to make some play dough snowmen.

Happy New Year 

Week beginning 5th January 2026

This week we have learning all about the Epiphany,

finding out if Santa came and enjoying spending time with our friends again.

 

Week beginning 15th December 2025

The children have had a wonderful creative end of term making cards, stars, angles etc.

On Monday we joined the rest of the school to celebrate the 'Gift Mass'.

Thank you for all your kind gifts, the Caritas representative went away with a car full of presents.
Wednesday was party day with lots of fun with dancing, games, food and being with

our Special friends in the afternoon. 

We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, filled with hope, peace, joy and love

Infant Play - Honky Tonky Donkey

Thank you to everyone who came to the play performances.

The children did absolutely brilliantly, performing their first Christmas play.

They will be very tired this weekend!

Week beginning 10th November 2025

This week began with Odd Sock Day and we learnt that we are all special and unique.

On Tuesday it was Remembrance Day.

We participated in a lovely assembly and then printed our own poppies.

In class we have been making our own 3D models like castles, houses etc.

Week beginning 3rd November 2025

This week we have been learning all about 3D shapes.

On Monday we watched a puppet show which was all about being unique.

Thank you to the Hazel Grove Baptist Church for coming in..

We have also been learning all about Bonfire Night and how to keep to keep safe.

This week we have been mixing paint to make orange,

painting a bare tree and then adding leaves to an Autumn picture.

Week beginning 13h October 2025

This week we have been learning how to take photographs using the class Ipads.

On Monday we went on an Autumn Walk.

We worked together in twos collecting things linked to the season of Autumn.

Then with the Autumn items we created some animals that belong in God's World.

Great team work all round.

This week we have been learning more about God's World

linked to the season of Autumn.

We have worked together as a small team to make a bed linked

to our class story 'Peace At Last' by Jill Murphy

Week beginning 29th September 2025

This week we have had fun in our PE lesson.

We all got into our PE kits for the first time! Well done everyone.

We had a lovely Special Friends assembly on Friday. 

Thank you to everyone who was able to come and celebrate this lovely assembly.

Week beginning 26th September 2025

This week we have been playing skittles and counting how many have been knocked down.

We have been listening to the Colour Monster stories and talking about our feelings.

On Thursday we went into the ICT Suite for the first time and had a go at using a mouse!

 

Week beginning 15th September 2025

This week an RE ICON blessed by Bishop Mark arrived in school.

The ICON is a picture of 'The Visitation' taken from Shrewsbury Cathedral.

The children spent time talking about what and who they could see in the picture.

Then with the 2D shapes they made some flowers for Mary.

8th September 2025

We made crowns to celebrate 60 years of St Peter's School being open.

Beginning of term 2025

Welcome everyone to St Peter’s.

The Reception staff have had a great week with the children getting to know their names,

as well as all their lovely personalities.

The children will be tired this weekend, sorry!!
