Welcome to Year 5's Class Page!
2025 - 2026
Friday 28th November
On Wednesday, we went to Hazel Grove Baptist Church to experience the Christmas Story Trail. It was a brilliant morning in which we were thoroughly reminded of the real meaning of Christmas.
Thank you to everyone at Hazel Grove Baptist Church for welcoming us so warmly and for presenting the Christmas story in such an exciting and meaningful way!
Friday 21st November
Year 5 have absolutely loved focusing on dodgeball in our PE lessons. Throwing, catching and dodging at high speeds - our skills are really developing!
Friday 14th November
Beth Selway - our lead mental health practitioner - came into Year 5 to deliver her second mental health and well-being workshop. The focus this time was understanding what anxiety is and what we can do when we feel this way. It was a really valuable session, from which the children further developed their tool kit of skills for looking after their mental health.
Friday 3rd October
In English, the children worked in small groups to create a series of freeze frames linked to our class text ‘Queen of the Falls’, depicting Annie’s journey from her hotel to the top of Niagara Falls.
Friday 26th September
In RE, the children were tasked with designing a creative piece of art work, expressing what it means to be a ‘Pilgrim of Hope’.
The children worked extremely hard and produced some outstanding pieces of art work!
Friday 19th September
In PE we have really enjoying practicing and developing our hockey skills. This week we focused on dribbling, close control and retaining the ball whilst under pressure.
Friday 12th September
This week we had a wellbeing session, which was led Beth - our school's EMHT (Education Mental Health Practitioner). In the session, we focused on the five ways to wellbeing - connect, be active, take notice, give and keep learning.
During the session, the children also discussed different ways to practice mindfulness, such as spending time with nature, practicing breathing techniques, checking in with their emotions and saying positive affirmations about themselves.
